Destinations That Make You “Press Pause”

Have you ever had a moment where you wanted to press pause and stay in it forever, or even just for a little bit? A moment so surreal that you never wanted it to stop? I know I have! These moments are unfortunately rare. Below, I’ve listed some of the places that made me want to press pause. These are places that made me forget about blogging, getting the best shot for Instagram, or whatever other distractions I may have I had. They made me live and be present in that moment, and they’re all places I’d go back to in a heartbeat.

Cliffs of Moher – Ireland

The Cliffs of Moher is one of those places that makes you feel so small and minuscule that you realize how tiny life’s problems actually are, in the grand scheme of things. Being there was so surreal for me, because it was a place I only dreamt of going to for years. I’d see pictures of the cliffs all over Pinterest and think to myself maybe someday. I definitely took the time to be present and appreciate the beauty while I was there.

Koh Lanta, Thailand

Watching the sunset on a different beach every night? Yes, please! There came a time when I got so obsessed with getting the perfect picture, that I barely watched the sunset. That night, I made a decision that no phones were allowed for the next sunset. So, the next night, I sat and watched with only my eyes, and not through a screen. It was truly the most beautiful sunset I’d ever seen.

Eiffel Tower – France

Paris was also a place that I had always dreamt of going. The Eiffel Tower is shown in movies, books, magazines, and TV shows. Those mediums depict it as a dreamy, romantic place to go. Standing in front of a landmark that’s so widely known (and so beautiful!) was another surreal moment for me.

Where have you been that made you “press pause” and take time to enjoy the moment? Let me know in the comments below!

Have a good week!

  1. One of my press pause moments was at the pyramids in Egypt – I was so young but I just remember being completely in awe of them. They were just so beautiful. I also make sure to take an extra moment if i’m at the top of something with a spectacular view out below – that sort of stuff always makes me :-O x

    1. Aw, sounds like a beautiful experience! I hope to make it to Egypt someday! And yes, I do the same, even in airplanes! There’s something so wonderful about seeing things from a different point of view!

  2. Such a fun post! I agree, Paris would be on my list too. And Venice. A few years ago my son and I took a day trip to Scotland’s Isle of May to see puffins. It was amazing. I felt like I was in a National Geographic special. I love it when I am so content to just be that I don’t think about anything else.
